Bobonan National High School was founded in August 10,
1966. A prominent son of barangay Bobonan, Don Gerardo Buada, was inspired to
establish the first barangay secondary school in Pozorrubio at the time when
the barangay high school movement was spreading in the country due to the
initiative of Dr. Pedro Orata, an educator from Urdaneta City, Pangasinan, who
later came to be known as the Father of "Barangay High Schools”.
At the grounds
of Bobonan Central School, Bobonan Community High School was born. It started
with two curriculum years in School Year 1966-1967 with Mr. Celestino Desamito,
the principal of the elementary school as assistant principal of the high
school, two teachers and two part time teachers who were elementary school
teachers of the Bobonan Central School.
In September 7, 1987, the school became nationalized
through Executive Order 189 signed by President Corazon C. Aquino. However,
Mrs. Consuelo Carillo, who was designated teacher in charge and one of the
pioneering teachers, resigned as teacher in charge of the school due to poor
health in September 3, 1990. In her place, a 29-year old teacher in this school
accepted the challenge of being the school administrator. Mr. Florencio B. Quezon
soon became a full pledge Principal I in 1994. Later, the young principal
finished his doctorate while enabling the school`s growth under his
administration. From having only eight teachers, the faculty increased to 13
teachers and an Annex was established in Nama to cater to the educational needs
of students residing in that barangay.
The Bobonan National High School Annex in Nama rose to
become the Nama National High School today. Dr. Quezon relentlessly proceeded
to mark further changes. He improved the classrooms, built the school canteen,
study shed, conference room, and renovated the principal`s office.
February
14, 2002, Dr. Enrique R. Macayan replaced Dr. Quezon who was promoted as
Principal II in Antonio P. Villar National High School in Sto. Tomas,
Pangasinan. His coming ushered in further development for Bobonan NHS. His
leadership led to the construction of the two-storey building, the renovation
of the Social Hall, construction of more classrooms, among others. His amiable
character strengthened community support for the school. It was also during his
administration that the proposal to change the school`s name was initiated.
Thus, Bobonan-Laoac-Batakil National High School came into being but it has not
been made official as the proponent has yet to work it out with the National
Historical Commission, Dr. Macayan said.
Considered the biggest barangay high school in Pozorrubio in terms
of enrollment, the students of Bobonan National High School come from barangays
Bobonan, Laoac, Batakil, Inoman, Palacpalac, Palguyod, Rosario in Pozorrubio,
and all the way from Paldit, Asan Sur, Artacho in Sison, Pangasinan.
Bobonan Nation High School had improved classroom
building, new structure for library, school canteen, study shed, conference
room, improved principal’s office and the like. It is progressing and has live
up to three expectationof the community. After 18 years of service in BNHS, Mr.
Florencio Quezon Jr, was promoted Principal II at Antonio Villar National High
School at Sto. Tomas, Pangasinan.
